How it works

The Grip-Foot (Basic Edition) uses two core components: a solid plate to secure the instrument’s position, and a highly adhesive hood that can be replaced when worn. A gecko-inspired micro-lamella structure, developed with the Swiss Institute of Polymer Nanotechnology, is designed to maximize adhesion across different surfaces — even when dust is present, as particles can sit between lamellae while friction remains.

Materials & sustainability

Hood material: thermoplastic elastomer manufactured in Germany, produced under strict controls and dermatologically tested.
Designed for recycling: components can be separated by the customer and returned for recycling.

The development

Like other DOLFINOS products, the Cello Grip-Foot was developed through multiple R&D projects with input from scientists, musicians, students, pedagogues, luthiers, designers and Swiss manufacturing partners. A key driver was improving stability for players — especially children — who are often asked not to use spiky endpins and instead rely on simple rubber protectors.
