Warchal TIMBRE LEP Strings
Gut-like colour and response, with the projection and stability of a modern synthetic string. Discover Warchal’s flagship TIMBRE range through the personal service of a participating LEP workshop.
The workshop experience
What does LEP mean for you?
LEP stands for Warchal’s Luthiers Exclusivity Program. Through AR Distribution’s UK LEP network, TIMBRE strings are purchased in person from selected luthiers and repairers.
Buying TIMBRE in the UK: visit a participating workshop. LEP workshops sell these strings in person, rather than through online checkout.
LEP workshop strings arrive in protective tubes in their original straight shape.
A complimentary string change is available with your purchase.
Your visit gives the luthier an opportunity to check the instrument and discuss its setup.
Contact the workshop before travelling to confirm stock, suitable options and fitting arrangements.
Why players choose TIMBRE
TIMBRE combines gut-like tonal complexity and response with the extra projection and tuning stability that synthetic strings can deliver.
The result is an expressive voice with depth, colour and the power to carry—supported by the individual attention of your LEP workshop.
TIMBRE for violin
Colour and balance across the set
A rich range of overtones inspired by the sound of old Italian instruments.
Responds clearly across the dynamic range. Hydronalium is used in the inner winding, rather than on the surface, to help avoid corrosion from perspiration.
Choose a synthetic-core A for tone and response, or a metal A incorporating a short helix in the bowed area. Your luthier can advise on the right match.
Designed for warmth, clean attack and reduced whistling, with a balance of playability and projection.
Integrated fine tuners? Ask your workshop about the TIMBRE IFT E, designed to accommodate the different string afterlength of integrated fine-tuner tailpieces.
TIMBRE for viola
Expressive warmth and projection
The synthetic-core viola set brings TIMBRE’s gut-like colour and response to the viola, with the projection and stability of modern synthetic strings.
Choose by vibrating string length. The standard Medium set is suitable for 36–38 cm, measured between the nut and bridge—not by viola body length. At exactly 38 cm, choose Medium.
Ask your workshop to confirm the correct version for your instrument and tailpiece before fitting.
Getting the best from TIMBRE: break-in & care
After fitting
Begin with approximately 10 minutes of playing at moderate dynamics, retuning as needed. Several retunings during this initial period are normal.
Your luthier can guide you through Warchal’s recommended break-in routine. The sound continues to develop over the following hours of playing.
Everyday care
Remove rosin build-up regularly with a microfibre cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners on Warchal strings.
For stubborn fused rosin, Warchal recommends gentle removal with a plastic card. Ask your luthier if you are unsure.
For luthiers & repairers
Interested in joining LEP?
LEP is open to luthiers providing maintenance and repair services such as bow rehairing, fingerboard work, bridge and soundpost setup, or crack repairs.
Participating workshops supply LEP strings in person. The programme supports workshop visits and professional service; it does not prevent you from stocking other string brands.
UK workshops can contact AR Distribution to discuss joining and the supply arrangements.
