What is happening to the Brilliant range?
Brilliant 2.0 is being introduced during late 2026, gradually replacing the original Brilliant and Brilliant Vintage ranges. Please check with your stockist which version they are supplying.
Brilliant 2.0 brings the redesigned range to full-size and fractional violins.
Brilliant 2.0 viola strings are also coming. Confirm sizing and available options before ordering.
Original Brilliant cello strings will be discontinued at the end of 2026.

A projecting synthetic-core set with a Hydronalium D selected for clarity and strong attack when needed.
- Universal E: a removable ball end makes it compatible with ball-end and loop-end fittings.

Viola strings are available in two sizes: Medium vibrating length: 14″–15″ (36–38 cm). Long vibrating length: 15″–15.75″ (38–40 cm)

The original range is known for its clear, projecting sound and responsive feel. The specifications below help identify your existing strings during the changeover. Please check remaining availability with your stockist.
Original Brilliant violin — specifications
The original synthetic-core violin set offers a projecting sound and quick tuning stability. It has two D-string options:
- Hydronalium D: brighter, with more attack when needed.
- Silver D: warmer, with a more mellow response.
Original violin E strings have separate ball-end and loop-end options. Brilliant 2.0 instead uses a universal E with a removable ball, and its specified D is Hydronalium.
Original Brilliant viola — options & sizing
The original viola range offers a synthetic A for a close tonal match with the rest of the set, or a more durable metal A.
Choose by vibrating string length, not viola body size. Measure the playing length between the nut and bridge.
- Medium: 36–38 cm.
- Long: 38–40 cm.
- At exactly 38 cm, choose Medium.
These measurements and A-string options apply to original Brilliant viola strings. Confirm the specifications separately when choosing Brilliant 2.0.
Original Brilliant cello — discontinuation notice
The original synthetic-core cello range is designed for a brilliant, full and projecting sound with rich overtones. Its lower tension compared with steel strings may suit instruments that respond well to a lighter setup.
Allow approximately 3–4 days for the strings to reach their optimal tone. Please contact your stockist about remaining availability.
