Why 327 mm? THE BEAST is Warchal’s first violin set with tensions calculated for a vibrating string length of 327 mm, rather than the usual 330 mm reference. Bear this difference in mind when comparing published tension figures.
Vibrating string length is the playing length between the nut and bridge. The figures above use 327 mm as their calculation reference; this is not an instruction to alter your violin’s setup.
A new direction in packaging
THE BEAST was the first Warchal product to introduce the brand’s new eco-friendly packaging design, marking the start of its move away from plastic packaging in 2025.

“These strings are sounding even better”
These Beast strings are actually still developing, which is something I’ve never come across before. The fizz is still there, but they’re softening and sound more flexible. The E string is perfect and sits smack in the middle of my preferred tensions too. Bags of broad sound but sweet as a nut as well.

The Beast - we it certainly is. It's in the power range of another well known range of strings. I put them on a master made Mittenwald, one of my collection of fiddles. It sounds wonderful and enhances the pure voice of this instrument with even more power than the L***** V******* that had been the previous choice. It beats the P****** for tonal warmth and is equal in power to them. Better on the A string as it is warmer and purer. It's a winner as far as I am concerned and I will be ordering more for stock soon.
